Maths Handbook Review

DSC_1013Maths Handbook For Teachers and Parents: Explaining Mathematical Content and Proficiencies

This book is designed to help teachers and parents understand mathematical concepts from years 3-9 and at only $24.95 it won’t break the bank.

There is a small section at the front of the book dedicated to early childhood up to year 3. This section is only 2 1/2 pages; however, it contains some great ideas that include games, literature, art and the use of manipulatives to name a few,

This book is designed with the Australian Curriculum in mind. There is no written connection within the book , ie: year 4 – Number and Algebra – Number and Place Value – Investigate and use the properties of odd and even numbers (ACMNA071) See pg x.

In saying this if you had the curriculum open in front of you when designing your units you can easily use the contents page to navigate this book so that it is relevant to you. If you know what you are looking for you will easily find it.

I believe this would be a good book for early career teachers to purchase. Being one myself I think this book will come in very handy when planning in the future. As I am not a parent I am unsure how handy this book would be to one.
